Lucy here, Detroit's resident Demon-Heart and reckless jerkboy. When last we met, I was getting chased out of the country and put onto a direct flight to Tibet. Remember that? Exile was my reward for saving the planet from a powerful necromancer and his horde.
Well, now I'm back. And I'm not loving it.
See, it didn't take the universe but a minute to start crapping on me upon my return to Detroit. Things are different at the Veiled Order, for starters. There's a new guy in charge, and he hates demons. Can't freakin' stand 'em. He pledges to keep a close eye on me, and if I don't play by his rules, I might end up on the organization's most wanted list.
That's not the worst of it, though. While I'm trying to deal with new tensions at work, an elusive Maori deity with a grudge decides to loose an inter-dimensional monster upon the world in the hopes of triggering the Apocalypse.
I can't seem to catch a damn break.
Join me, my demonic buddy Gadreel, my mouthy spider Germaine and all the rest as we face off against a behemoth of Biblical proportions. We're going to give our all to save the planet. And, with some of the tricks I picked up in Tibet, we might actually come through in the end.
...Or we might not.
On second thought, don't hold your breath.

I was saving this series until I had finished all of his other books. It was worth the waitRead all his books and saved this series for last. It was well worth the wait.

Book 3, good read, slightly artificial feel with the stereotype new leader who hates the guts of the hero, but most of it works well, and the ending leads up to possibly a new phase in the hero's life.
The development of the main character Lucy is what I enjoyed most about this book.......... He's really getting into his stride as DEMON for want of a better word........ The story line runs at a good pace and keeps you glued to the pages from start to finish..... It leaves you asking where does it go from here?.... Just good old fashioned fun!! ps for the record the Author supplied a free book for an honest review, which is what I have given
I love this series. The characters are likeable and the plots are interesting. I was incredibly excited when I saw the third book was released, and having just finished it, I'm unsure how I feel about this installment. The first half of the book reads much like the others, but in the second half Lucian makes decisions that drastically change the dynamics between just about everything. I'm not saying its a bad thing, just different. My only conplaint is that the end of the book seemed cut short, kind of unfulfilling. That aside, I'm looking forward to seeing where the author takes the new Lucy!
Edit I forgot to mention how much I appreciate that the author doesn't have a love story in these books. That's been the deal breaker for me in a lot of urban fantasy, as it usually ends up either corny or angsty. I love being able to sit down and read these novels for a good, humorous story and I hope that doesn't change!
This book was awesome. I was in the same camp as a lot of people regarding Roaring Blood (book 2) Lucy was an annoying jerk and was a total turnoff to the story.
Enter Happy End of the World.
I am SO GLAD I still gave book 3 a chance. Lucian as a character was 1000% more enjoyable to read- the character development was evident throughout the story without losing any of his sharp wit. He had a grit and determination to take care of his friends that was lacking previously, and it made it so easy to root for him.
The story takes a decidedly darker turn in book 3; i felt it was the mark of good writing that I genuinely had to go "how the crap are they going to get out of this?" a few times.
I'm really intrigued by the way things panned out at the end and can't wait to see how things continue in book 4.
Synopsis of the story Human with heart of a demon, an evil sorcerer, and a mythical beast that shouldn't exist but does; fighting ensues. The book is really much better than that makes it sound. This is the third book in the trilogy and will be most enjoyable if read after reading another of the books or the short story in which the protagonist appeared in the anthology "Full Metal Magic". The interplay of the various characters is very well done and provides an interesting flow throughout the book. The battle scenes are well written and creative. If you like an action story with paranormal features this will likely be enjoyable for you to read. I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily writing this review.
This has you wanting more, just amazingly done, amazing ending only thing its lacking is romance other than that absolutely amazing
5 stars. Well told, great imagery and characters I can clearly picture as I went along with the story. Funny, action packed, and full of scfi-goodies.
